Severobaikalsk - Ayaya Bay (car) - Frolikha lake
(on the skis)- Khakusy hot springs on the shore
of lake Baikal - Kotelnikovsky Cape (skis or on
foot) - Severobaikalsk (car).
You are to transfer lake Baikal with a nights spend on ice of lake
Baikal, perhaps on foot - about 60 km!
You will have: full board, transportation, skis, sledges, tent,
winter slipping bags, everything for preparing your food, heating the
tent during night time, accommodation when you are in town, services
of guide-instructor.
Very important is the question of footwear, we recommend to buy
footwear; it maybe sold in shops or you can buy among local people, it
must be very warm and handy. Some local hunters have it.
Itinerary:
1 d - Arrival to Severobaikalsk, accommodation in home-stay.
2 d - You go in cars to the Bay Ayaya (45 km). Take your skis,
everyone has the skis - all you luggage put in your own sledge:
food products, diesel fuel, slipping bags, touristic rugs; one
6-place tent.
For preparing food we use stove working on diesel fuel, also
it can warm the tent during the whole night! Look map 1, 2, 8 in
the album "PRIBAIKALYE", scale 1:200 000. From Ayaya Bay you
move till Frolikha lake. Look map "FROLIKHA", scale 1:50 000.
You have done 9 km.
3 d - you can move around the lake, it has 6 x 1.5 km to the north and
8 x 1.5 km to the east; lovers of ice fishing may try (the lake
is rich in fish!). Look map "FROLIKHA".
4 d - You move after the dinner back till Ayaya Bay, place to stop for
the night. Look map "FROLIKHA". You have done 9 km.
5 d - You will go along the shore of lake Baikal till sanatorium
"Khakusy". There are most mighty hot springs on the lake Baikal!
Look map "FROLIKHA". You have done 14 km.
6-8 d - Transfer lake Baikal. Nights on ice. You can go on foot or
somewhere you can move on skis. Arrive to Kotelnikovsky Cape,
there also hot springs; they are located in one meter from the
lake Baikal. You can visit the river Kurkula, the distance about
8 km one way. Look map 8, 7 in the album "PRIBAIKALYE". You have
done about 60 km.
9 d - Cars will take you along the shore of lake Baikal till the
Severobaikalsk (80 km). Look map 7 in the album "PRIBAIKALYE".
10 d - People are free from the tour, they can rest or go outside.
Price for one person, depends of quantity of people:
2 pax - $774

Price includes: food, transportation (during the expedition all
members have load), skis, tent, rugs, winter slipping bags, all
equipment for preparing food, heating the tent during the sleep,
accommodation in the town (2 nights), service of the guides.
Price don't include footwear, we recommend warm footwear and very
suitable! Price don't include mask on the face, glasses for
protection from the sun and other things from warm cloth.
Prepare yourself and your equipment for extreme winter (until
- 30 degrees) camping.
For safety measures it would be good to take a satellite phone
and a extra one with enough batteries and it is possible to phone
anywhere and anytime. It would be good to have also instrument GPS.
Prepare for frozen body parts and prepare for cracks in the ice
when somebody feels through.
